Adamawa Relocates 2,330 Traders

No fewer than 2,330 traders have been relocated from Jimeta Shopping Complex to a temporary place at the popular Falluja Market in Adamawa State.

The state’s Commissioner for Commerce and Trade, Dr Ishaya Dabari, while disclosing this to LEADERSHIP in Yola, said government has constituted a 13-member committee to upgrade Jimeta Shopping Complex to a modern market.

Dabari who is also chairman of the committee, said funds have already been made available for the project and work would commence as soon as Ramadan fast is over.

He added that the project which houses administrative building, car parks, security post and clinic for the health needs of customers, would be completed within one year.

Dabari also added that shop owners have already been documented and revoking of all allocations in the market has started.

“Traders would start relocating to the temporary site after Ramadan fasting”.

He noted that the new market, would boost economic fortune of the state as well as improve revenue to the state coffers.

The Chairman, Yola-North Local Government, Nasiru Hammanjoda, who signed the revoking letter directed traders to relocate to Gambo Jimeta Modern Market and Motor Park popularly known as ‘Falluja’.

Members of the committee were drawn from the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
