Adamawa, World Bank Disburse $525,000 To 21 Communities To Improve Food Security

The World Bank and the federal government have launched the Community Revolving Fund disbursement of $ 525,000 designed to empower 21 communities and build resilience against the hardship in the state.

Adamawa State deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta who launched the programme at Yola, yesterday, said it also aimed to reduce the vulnerability communities in the state against the backdrop of increasing adverse effect of climate change.

Farauta speaking on behalf of the Governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri stressed that the programme has the potential to establish a continued cycle of business activities that would ultimately create economic safety net for communities and the state.

She reiterated government support to the World Bank projects through ACReSAL to achieve results by monitoring, evaluation and controlling its processes.

She however, urged federal government to desilt the River Benue to boost international water travels, irrigation and other economic activities.

Earlier, minister of state for agriculture and food security, Dr Aliyu Abdullahi said, federal government is partnering government of Adamawa through ACReSAL to improve food security in the state.

Abdullah said the projects covers 774 LGAs, where each council would benefit based on its comparative and competitive advantages.
