A group, the North East United Advocates for Peace, Progress, and Equality, has declared that the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Adamu (rtd) as chairman of the Military Pension Board positions him to reform the agency and enhance the welfare of retired military personnel.

The group said Adamu’s background in the armed forces and his record of discipline and professionalism make him well-suited for the task of strengthening pension administration.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja over the weekend, the President of the group, Alhaji Abubakar Aminu, described the appointment by President Bola Tinubu as timely and merit-based.

Aminu said the choice of Adamu reflected the administration’s resolve to place competent and experienced individuals in charge of sensitive national institutions.

According to him, retired military officers require efficient and transparent pension management, adding that Adamu’s experience would help address longstanding challenges within the board.

He expressed confidence that the new chairman would prioritise the welfare of pensioners and introduce reforms that would enhance service delivery.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Umar Gashua, commended President Tinubu for appointing what he described as a “deserving son of Borno State.”

Gashua said the appointment was widely welcomed by stakeholders, noting that Adamu’s leadership would add value to the Military Pension Board.

He urged Nigerians to support the new chairman with prayers as he undertakes the responsibility of improving the welfare of retired military personnel.
