Adamu’s Camp Alleges Plot To Manipulate Nasarawa APC Primary Outcome

The campaign council of the former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, yesterday alleged that it had uncovered a plot to alter the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in Nasarawa State.

Briefing journalists in Lafia yesterday, the director general of the campaign council, Malam Musa Hussain, said results of various wards across some local government areas of the state favoured the former police boss.

He, however, said there were efforts by state government agents and those of the party leadership in the state to manipulate the results in favour of a preferred aspirant.

“Our attention has been drawn to ongoing attempts to create confusion around the outcome of the governorship primary election conducted on May 21, 2026 across various parts of Nasarawa State.

“We wish to state clearly that Mohammed Abubakar Adamu recorded a decisive and overwhelming victory in all areas where the election was peacefully and successfully conducted.

“The results available from the wards and local government areas where voting took place clearly reflect the will of party members and demonstrate the massive support enjoyed by our candidate across the state,” he stated.

The director general therefore called on the election committee to resist any temptation that may lead to such manipulation.

He condemned alleged interference with the process especially during the exercise, describing it as undemocratic.

“We call on the election committee to remain firm, impartial and committed to justice by upholding the genuine results as obtained at the polling and collation centres. The committee must resist every form of pressure, intimidation, or attempt to manipulate the democratic process.

“Our campaign organisation strongly condemns the reported hijack and interference with election result sheets by certain officials of the Nasarawa State government in some local government areas. Such actions are unacceptable, undemocratic, and capable of undermining the credibility of the primary election process.

“Despite these unfortunate incidents, the results already declared from wards where elections were successfully conducted must stand and should be officially recognised, as they reflect the clear mandate freely given to our candidate by party members.

“The voice of the people must not be suppressed. Democracy within the party can only be strengthened when transparency, fairness, and due process are respected by all stakeholders.

He urged party faithful, supporters, and the general public to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while the committee concludes its assignment in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the party.
