The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied reports claiming that it was set to inaugurate a South-West zonal chairman, describing the information as false and misleading.
The opposition party clarified that it has neither appointed nor elected any individual as South-West chairman, warning that those behind the purported inauguration were not recognised by the party.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the reports circulating in the media did not originate from the party and should be disregarded.
“There had been media reports that the South West chairman of the new opposition party was scheduled to be inaugurated,” the statement noted, stressing that the claims were untrue.
Abdullahi said the ADC’s official communication channels remained unchanged, adding that all verified information from the party is released through its publicity department and official platforms.
“This is to inform the general public that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has not appointed any South West Chairman. Furthermore, the ADC is not inaugurating any South West Chairman at this time,” he said.
He urged members of the public and party supporters to be cautious about any activities or announcements suggesting otherwise.
“The public is therefore advised to take note of this information and exercise caution regarding any claims or activities suggesting otherwise,” the statement added.
The ADC spokesman reiterated that no appointment has been made into the position of South-West chairman and warned those making such claims to desist immediately.
