A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed a purported resignation letter attributed to its acting national chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala, describing it as forged and malicious.

The party’s director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, in a statement issued in Abuja at weekend, said the letter, dated May 18, 2025, neither originated from Bala nor carried the ADC’s official insignia.

“The resignation letter being circulated is entirely fabricated, fraudulent, and maliciously designed by desperate political actors to destabilise our party,” Okechukwu said.

He accused the ADC former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, and “a coalition of power-seeking individuals” of attempting to hijack the party’s structures by submitting unauthorised documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Okechukwu stressed that Bala remains the constitutionally recognised leader of the party and has not resigned, urging INEC and security agencies to reject the forged letter and investigate those behind it.

He also called on party members and the public to disregard what he described as “a desperate misinformation campaign” aimed at creating disunity within the ADC.
