The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of its Kano State chapter, urging members to close ranks and work towards rebuilding the party ahead of future congresses and elections.

The party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Najatu Muhammad, inaugurated the committee in Kano on Monday, describing the exercise as a constitutional measure aimed at restoring stability and continuity in the party.

She explained that the committee was constituted to fill a leadership vacuum and should not be misconstrued as an endorsement of any faction within the party.

“This is not a day of victory for one group over another. It is a day of responsibility,” Muhammad said, adding that the decision was taken in line with the ADC constitution and the Electoral Act.

According to her, the caretaker committee is expected to reconcile aggrieved members, strengthen party structures and lay the foundation for credible congresses.

“Its mandate is not to deepen divisions but to heal them. It is to rebuild confidence in our structures, strengthen our institutions and ensure that every genuine member of the ADC has a place within our collective family,” she stated.

Muhammad urged party members across the 44 local government areas of Kano State to support the committee, stressing that the party’s future depended on unity, discipline and adherence to its constitution.

“The people of Kano State are not waiting to see which faction wins an internal argument. They are waiting to see whether we can offer credible leadership, disciplined organisation and practical solutions to the challenges facing our people,” she said.

She also charged the committee members to discharge their responsibilities with fairness, transparency and impartiality, noting that leadership should be regarded as a trust rather than a privilege.

The caretaker committee is chaired by Umar Bala, with Dr Isa Haladu as Deputy Chairman. Other members are Munir Indabawa (Vice Chairman, Kano Central), Dr Isa Rimingado (Vice Chairman, Kano North), Is’mail Musa Ibrahim (Secretary), Mamina Bako Lamido (Financial Secretary), Lawal Adamu Ginginyu (Publicity Secretary), Mohammed Yahaya (Legal Adviser), Yusuf Bature (Organising Secretary), Aliyu Ibrahim (Auditor), Hadiza Aliyu (Woman Leader), Abdulkadir Shehu (Youth Leader) and Musa Magami (Chief Whip), among others.
