ADC Names Committee Chairmen Ahead Of Nationwide Congresses

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed committee chairmen to oversee its forthcoming ward, local government/area council and state congresses across the country.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Acting National Secretary, Tunji Lausa, who said the appointments were approved by the party’s national leadership under Nafiu Bala Gombe in line with the party’s constitution.

According to the statement, the appointed officials are expected to supervise the congresses that will produce new party leaders at the various levels of the party structure.

“These appointments are in accordance with the ADC Constitution. The selected officials are tasked with conducting the congresses to elect new party leaders at the respective levels,” the statement read.

The party noted that the committees would oversee the congress process across the 36 states of the federation.

It further directed the appointed chairmen to report to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja for formal inauguration and briefing ahead of the exercise.

“All appointed chairmen are hereby directed to report to the National Party Office for a formal inauguration and briefing regarding the electoral process,” the statement added.

The ADC also urged the appointees to ensure fairness, transparency and adherence to the party’s constitution during the conduct of the congresses.

“The party urges all appointees to be punctual and prepared to uphold the tenets of justice, fairness and internal democracy as enshrined in the ADC Constitution,” the statement said.

The party subsequently released the list of committee chairmen assigned to supervise the congresses in each of the 36 states, including Bala Sani (Abia), Christopher Osazie (Adamawa), Abba Ahmad Musa (Akwa Ibom), Larai Danjuma Amos (Anambra), Abayomi Kayode (Bauchi), Lazarus Bulus (Bayelsa), Ibrahim Maina (Benue), Hadiza Bello (Borno), Bola Shitu (Cross River), Zakaria Abdullahi (Delta), Zanna Bukar Gonori (Ebonyi), Mansur Isah Tsanyawa (Edo), Jarimi Adamu (Ekiti), Isah Babangida (Enugu), Bashir Ajibola (Gombe), Abdullahi Bukar Maina (Imo), Bolaji Adam (Jigawa), Peter Andrew (Kaduna), Kemi Kelvin (Kano), Babayo Hayatu (Katsina), Kemi Adekunle (Kebbi), Binta Jimeta (Kogi), Bulus Abraham Shandam (Kwara), Taiwo Innocent (Lagos), Sani Bala (Nasarawa), Pius Alex (Niger), Linus Adegbeti (Ogun), Rafikat Shagaya (Ondo), Benson Ihejirika (Osun), Nelson Onabanjo (Oyo), Askira Buba Jatau (Plateau), Aisha Sharif (Rivers), Musa Alawo (Sokoto), Babagana Abba Ari (Taraba), Kolawale Ajadi (Yobe) and Muftahu Aliyu (Zamfara).
