The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Governor Uzodimma, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the governorship election.

This was made known by the national vice chairman, South East, Chilos Godsent while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the state capital.

He said the party condemned in strong terms the alleged partisanship role of INEC in the exercise.

His words, “ADC having keenly monitored the just concluded Imo State Governorship Election of Saturday 11th November 2023 which allegedly was characterized by electoral violence, banditry, snatching of electoral materials, intimidations and harassment of political opponents by  thugs, ADC South East Zone hereby condemn in its totality the results of  exercise called election.

“ADC demands in strong terms the immediate investigation and prosecution of all persons  mentioned in many of the viral videos circulating on social media who were accused of leading the thuggery squads that extensively militarized the Imo State Governorship Election of Saturday, November 11.

“We also noted that in many polling units, INEC officials were caught with written result sheets even when accreditations and voting had not commenced in Orsu LGA, which contravenes the provisions of the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution,” he said.
