Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and peaceful coexistence associated with the celebration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described Eid-el-Kabir as a spiritual reminder of total submission to the will of Allah and the need for unity, tolerance, and kindness in society.
Adeleke said the lessons of the festival align with the vision of his administration, which he noted is anchored on fairness, service delivery, and commitment to the welfare of the people.
The governor urged residents to use the festive period to evaluate the impact of his administration across key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, workers’ welfare, and social development.
“As you drive through our towns and villages, check through our deliveries and services to our people. We are committed to serving you now and all the time,” Adeleke stated.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all residents irrespective of political or religious affiliations.
The governor also called on Muslims to continue to uphold the virtues of patience, sacrifice, tolerance, and generosity as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, stressing that such values remain essential for building a peaceful and prosperous society.
While appreciating residents for their support and cooperation, Adeleke pledged to sustain ongoing developmental projects across the state, insisting that governance must continue to reflect the aspirations and wellbeing of the people.
He, however, warned against divisive tendencies capable of exploiting religious or political sentiments, noting that Osun has continued to enjoy stability and development because citizens have embraced unity over bitterness.
The governor further encouraged well-meaning individuals to support the needy and vulnerable during the Eid celebration, emphasizing that compassion remains central to the message of Eid-el-Kabir.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I urge the people of Osun State to continue to pray for peace, unity, and progress in our dear state and nation. Let us also reflect on the journey so far and the visible impacts of good governance across our communities. Together, we will continue to build a better Osun for all,” he added.
