Plateau State governor Barr Caleb Mutfwang, has urged residents to embrace unity, sacrifice and compassion as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, yesterday, Mutfwang described the festival as a sacred season that embodies faith, obedience and submission to the will of Almighty God.
He said the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir—peace, tolerance, selflessness and harmony—remain vital for building cohesive communities across the state. “Let us use this season to strengthen unity, foster peaceful coexistence and promote sustainable development,” the governor said.
Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness and equal opportunity for all, promising to sustain an environment where citizens can freely practise their faith and carry out legitimate businesses in peace and respect for the law.
He thanked the Muslim community for their prayers, support and cooperation, and praised pilgrims from Plateau currently performing Hajj in Makkah for representing the state with dignity. He urged them to continue praying for peace, unity and prosperity in Plateau and the nation.
The governor appealed to well-meaning citizens to remember widows, orphans and vulnerable persons during the celebrations, stressing that the true spirit of Eid is shown through love, generosity and sacrifice.
On behalf of the deputy governor, the government and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Mutfwang extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and wished them a joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid.
