The Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADITOP) said they have formed a united front of petroleum tanker owners and entrepreneurs, working together to enhance the distribution and transportation of Petroleum products in Nigeria.

According to ADITOP, they are committed to the highest standards of professionalism and industry best practices adding that they will support the federal government to achieve it’s goal in the downstream sector.

A statement issued by the National President, Alhaji Lawal Dan Zaki, the association said it has reviewed it’s commitment to aiding the Nigerian Government’s endeavours in the downstream sector of the Oil and Gas Industry.

“ADITOP, a coalition of petroleum tanker owners and entrepreneurs, is dedicated to revolutionising the distribution of Petroleum products across Nigeria, driving the industry toward a more professional and efficient future.

“Having invested considerable resources in supporting and developing the Petroleum sector, ADITOP is poised at addressing a pressing issue that threatens the industry’s integrity and productivity.

“During a recent board meeting in Kano, the association took a firm stance to tackle the nefarious activities of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) and their detrimental impact on the depots’ operations.

“One of the major concerns is the alarming abuse, impunity, and arbitrary increase of levies imposed by the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association (PTD). At present, the PTD is collecting an exorbitant sum of 60,000 Naira per truck and has threatened to increase the price to 85,000 Naira per truck loading fee, which ADITOP vehemently opposes. This exorbitant increase places an undue burden on the already struggling general public and serves no productive purpose at this critical juncture in the downstream sector.

“ADITOP firmly believes that no Union or Association in the oil and gas industry should be permitted to collect unreasonable levies per truck of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in order not to cause untold hardship on Nigerians and that this levy should be exclusively attached to its own members. By doing so, the association aims to restore a fair and just system that promotes cooperation and sustainability across the industry.

“Due to these unpatriotic and illegal collections, the members of the Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products (ADITOP), wish to inform the General Public and all stakeholders in the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry that the association will soon commence nationwide operations. This will include but not be limited to nationwide road service and safety measures for members in addition to the collection of levies.

“We urgently call on the federal government to intervene promptly and halt the Petroleum Tanker Drivers from terrorising other stakeholders in the oil industry,” asserted Alh. Lawal Dan Zaki, National President of ADITOP. “We cannot stand by and allow this blatant impunity against our members to persist,” ADITOP said, adding that its steadfastness in its resolve to work hand in hand with the Nigerian Government to foster transparency, accountability, and a thriving downstream sector remain unchanged.

“By combatting the harmful practices of the PTD, ADITOP aims to create a stable environment that fosters growth and development for all stakeholders in the industry.

“The association reaffirms its commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian people, the Oil and Gas Industry, and all its members. Through collaboration and synergy, ADITOP is determined to promote positive changes and drive progress in the distribution and transportation of Petroleum products across the nation,” the statement added.
