The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage affecting several parts of Abuja, including hotels, government institutions and diplomatic missions.
The company disclosed this in a statement posted on its verified X account on Saturday.
According to AEDC, the outage has affected locations such as Bolingo Hotel, the Wada Maida Building, which houses the headquarters of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the embassies of Sudan and Egypt, Envoy Hotel, and the European Union Embassy, among others.
Other affected areas include the National Planning Commission (NPC), the National Hospital, and the Turkish, Pakistani, and Indian embassies.
AEDC further stated that Garki Areas One, Two, Three, Seven and Eight, Garki Village, Garki Market, Ubiaja Street, Kaltungo Street and Lagos Street are also experiencing power disruption.
Additional locations affected by the blackout include Oka Akoko Street, Treasury House, Karibu Hotel and parts of Asokoro, including Yakubu Gowon Street.
Similarly, Imo Government Lodges, Gado Nasko Street, Justice Sowemimo Street, Hassan Musa Katsina Street, parts of Jasse Martin, the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and TY Danjuma Street are currently without electricity supply.
The outage also extends to Lugbe, Jedo, Forte Royal, Back of Dunamics, Customs Quarters, Aviation Village, Piwoye, Kapwa, Ok Water, NigComSat, the Korean School and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
AEDC attributed the disruption to a technical fault and said engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are working to restore power supply.
“We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the company stated.
