The president of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, has said he is happy with the team’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Palancas Negras were eliminated from the competition by Nigeria on Friday.
It was the third time they had made it to the AFCON quarter-final.
Ademola Lookman scored the only goal as the Super Eagles sent Angola packing.
Despite the loss, Lourenco urged the plays not to be heartbroken as the country is proud of their exploits in Cote d’Ivoire.
“In this CAN we did well, but we need to improve, learning from our mistakes.
“Don’t be discouraged; the next one will be ours, just depending on all of us, MINJUD, FAF, Palancas, and all Angolan fans,” the Angolan President wrote (translated) on his official X social network account.
