A former Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has taken a swipe at Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church following the Super Eagles’ victory over Algeria at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Nigeria defeated Algeria in their quarter-final AFCON encounter on Saturday, a result that appeared to contradict earlier prophecies by Primate Ayodele concerning the national team’s performance at the continental soccer tournament.
Reacting to the outcome, Adejobi, now Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Delta State Police Command, shared a post on his Facebook page shortly after the match, sarcastically questioning the relevance of the cleric’s prediction.
“Where is that prophecy against the Super Eagles… shiooo,” Adejobi wrote.
Primate Ayodele had, ahead of the competition, issued a series of prophecies suggesting that the Super Eagles could face challenges during the tournament, including possible early elimination, and advised that certain measures should be taken to avert setbacks.
However, the Super Eagles have so far defied those forecasts, advancing through each stage of the competition with convincing performances, including their latest victory over Algeria.
The cleric, known for making predictions on sports, politics, and national affairs, often sparks public debate, with many always mocking his prophecies.
Meanwhile, DCP Adejobi’s post quickly gained traction online, with many Nigerians interpreting it as a direct rebuttal of the Prophet Ayodele’s earlier warnings, especially in light of the Super Eagles’ spirited display against Algeria.
