Afghanistan Claims Historic Gold At Islamic Solidarity Games

In a landmark achievement for Afghanistan, Mohammad Yousuf Jahangir won the country’s first-ever gold medal at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, triumphing in the 70–75 kg Muaythai category.

The remarkable victory was witnessed by His Highness Prince Fahad bin Jalawi, chairman of the supreme organising committee for the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh in 2025.

The final match took place at the Art Tower, located in the Sports Boulevard – Promenade, where Türkiye’s Mehmet Ali Meriç finished with a silver medal. The bronze medals were awarded to Saudi Arabia’s Enad Baawidhan and Morocco’s Youssef Essouik.

The competition also saw Kazakhstan’s Turar Duiskhan clinch gold in the 55–60 kg category, with Iraq’s Eyad Al-Badr taking silver. Bronze medals went to Malaysia’s Wasouf bin Romi Jam and Azerbaijan’s Ali Aliyev.

In the 60–65 kg division, Morocco’s Hamza Rachid achieved gold after defeating Azerbaijani Khyal Aliyev, while bronze medals were earned by Palestine’s Amer Amli and Türkiye’s Sercan Koç.

UAE’s Mohammed Mardi claimed gold in the 65–70 kg category, with silver awarded to Saudi Arabia’s Amer Al-Enezi. Azerbaijan’s Salahuddin Joghazadeh and Jordan’s Yazan Al-Saifi shared the bronze medals.

 

In the 75–80 kg category, Iraq’s Mustafa Al-Tikriti took home the gold, while IR Iran’s Majid Hashem Beigi won silver, and UAE’s Elias Habib Ali secured bronze. This event marks a significant milestone for athletes participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games, highlighting the spirit of unity and sportsmanship among the participating nations.
