The Group Managing Director of Afrinvest West Africa Limited, Dr. Ike Chioke, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his brother-in-law, Dr. Ikechukwu Onwe, whose burial is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, 2025.
In a tribute, Chioke described the late medical doctor, who died at 60, as a brother, confidant and compassionate professional whose impact extended far beyond his medical practice.
“He was diligent beyond his calling,” Chioke said, noting that Dr. Onwe often offered free medical consultations and paid for patients’ medications. He also provided pro bono healthcare for Chioke’s aged parents until their final days.
Chioke recalled their bond, which began in the mid-1990s when Dr. Onwe started dating his sister, Oby, and later culminated in their marriage in 2001. He praised Dr. Onwe’s commitment to family, his leadership of the Onwe Group, and his calming influence during family disputes.
“Ike always reminded us that life is bigger than disagreements,” he said.
While mourning his loss, Chioke said he takes comfort in faith, describing his brother-in-law as family not by blood, but by choice.
“I miss him deeply, but I trust in God’s wisdom,” he said.
