Undeniably heir apparent, his ascension was announced by the baked decisions of sages, those gifted with ancestral wits, we call them the kingmakers, those who stand in witness between today and tomorrow- the intercessors of our tradition. Collectively, they named Abubakar Ahmed Ahmadu Yakubu as the Ejeh of Ankpa – it was a fulfilment of an aged long creed. But typical with the human complexities, some voices retorted in aghast against this divine heir. They threw the spanners in the wheel of time but failed to halt the ride of the wind -forgetting no one halts the wind. Today, after many distracting bumpy legal hitches, not just the court, the government of Kogi state has affirmed His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yakubu Ahmadu as the 4th Ejeh Ankpa.

With the seal of authority and the affirmation of the law, capped with the libation of the ancestors, the digital king now stands in stoic readiness to provide the modern leadership that the ancient land of Ejilogwu desires.

Although he may be new to the throne, Abubakar Sadiq is no stranger to the responsibilities of kingship. He carries within him the essence of his forefathers, an inherited orientation that guides his every step. Anchored by the wisdom of the past, he embraces the challenges and opportunities of the present, prepared to chart a course for his ancient land, Ejilogwu, Ankpa. He was barely a lad when he started to throttle on the saddle of royalty, while others jived afar from the dance hall of the palace, he buried himself in the art. This he did with dispassionate interest, to him, it was a responsibility for a child to hold the bowl while the king feast. Nature with her way of giving what you give her decided to throw this lad to the throne. Today, he sits in magnificent majesty on the throne he was once a manservant. Indeed, for every king, there was a palace lad

The modern era beckons and the Ejeh of Ankpa is poised to embrace it. With a heart rooted in tradition and a vision that encompasses progress, he is ready to weave the threads of ancient wisdom with the advancements of the digital age. The people of Ankpa can now look to their king as a beacon of leadership, knowing that he will navigate the complexities of the modern world while honoring the rich heritage that defines their community.

HRH Sadiq Ahmed‘s life story is one of perseverance, hard work, and determination. From his early beginnings as a palace lad to his current position as the Ejeh of Ankpa, King Sadiq has always been a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication and focus.

Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu, Ejeh Ankpa IV, born in 1978 in Kano State, Nigeria, comes from a royal and humanitarian background. With primary and secondary education in Kano, he gained experience as a Personal Assistant to his father, learning royal protocols and engaging with stakeholders.

He pursued a Bachelor‘s degree in Business Administration and completed postgraduate studies in Management Information Systems. He contributed to Abercrombie & Fitch‘s development in London before joining ZUMA Energy in Nigeria, overseeing energy projects. Recognized for his performance, he joined Zuma Infrastructure Management Company (ZIMCO) as a Project Coordinator, engaging foreign investors and facilitating railway development. In 2016, he established his consultancy firm and holds leadership positions in various private sector organizations.

Alhaji Abubakar is a lifelong learner, taking courses on business analysis, strategy, management, and private sector investment. He is known for his philanthropic efforts, supporting youth empowerment, aiding the elderly and people with disabilities, and receiving awards. Appointed as Ejeh Ankpa IV in 2021, he continues his family‘s legacy and is committed to leaving a lasting impact. Alhaji Abubakar is passionate about charity work, reading, and intellectual conversations. He is a practicing Muslim, happily married, and enjoys traveling.

The people stand united, ready to march forward under the guidance of their chosen leader, confident in the knowledge that their ancestral traditions will continue to thrive and evolve under the watchful eye of their Ejeh.
