Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has warned those agitating for change of government to wait till 2031.

The association’s national president, Hammed Olalekan, and national secretary, Olawale Ajao, said in Ibadan yesterday that the presidency was not the birthright of any particular zone or region in the country.

“The northerners that are cunningly agitating for change of government should wait till 2031 when power will be shifted from South to North.

“Presidency in Nigeria is not a birth right of any particular region and change of government could only happen democratically through ballot.

“More so, if people think a government at any level is underperforming, their power to change it lies in their franchise, which should be performed peacefully when the time comes”, the youth said.

According to them, sponsoring violent protests or calling on the military to take over is a backdoor strategy that is being adopted by the extremely desperate, undemocratic politicians and serial election losers.

They added that no matter how furious they were, their evil plans would never see the light of the day.

“We hereby call on our youths to put an end to being allowed to be used by shortcutters whose intention is to truncate President Tinubu’s administration.

“Since the 2027 election is fast approaching when they will have all chances to decide on who to govern them through their votes, they should exercise patience,” the Yoruba youths said.
