Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has donated ₦2 million to Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, as they step up preparations for the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
The regional tournament will take place from 26 July to 9 August and will determine the WAFU B representatives for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Musa, Nigeria’s most-capped international with 111 appearances, presented the cash gift through the team’s coordinator, Alhaji Abubakar Abubakar, while urging the players to remain focused and seize the opportunity to launch successful professional careers.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who captained the Super Eagles and won the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations with the Flying Eagles in 2011, reminded the players that success at youth level often provides the foundation for a distinguished football career.
He encouraged the squad to represent Nigeria with pride and secure qualification for the continental championship.
Flying Eagles captain Simon Habila thanked Musa for the generous gesture on behalf of the players, assuring the former international that the team is fully committed to making Nigerians proud at the tournament.
