Aiyedatiwa Wins Ondo APC Gov’ship Primary Election

The incumbent governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been declared the winner of the primary election and emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa, who contested the primary election with 16 other aspirants, won the party’s primary election with 48, 569 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Akinfolarin Mayowa who scored 15, 343, votes.

Chief Olusola Oke came third by scoring 14,915 votes while Senator Jimoh Ibrahim scored 9,456 votes, to come fourth.

Aiyedatiwa contested the primary alongside 15 other aspirants, which include Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Jimi Odimayo, Jimoh Ibrahim, and APC National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaacs Kekemeke.

Others are Wale Akinterinwa, Olugbenga Edema, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN), Olamide Ohunyeye, Morayo Lebi, Oladiran Iyantan, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Mayowa Akinfolarin, and Ifeoluwa Oyedele, as well as two female aspirants, Funmilayo Adekojo and Funke Omogoroye.

LEADERSHIP reports that a total of 171,922 accredited members of the party voted in the direct primary election exercise which was held in 203 wards of 18 local government areas on Saturday and Sunday.

Declaring Aiyedatiwa as the candidate of the party for November 16 governorship election, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who was the Electoral Committee Chairman for the primary, confirmed that the exercise held in all the 203 words.

Ododo said “Having scored the highest votes, I hereby declare Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner and Ondo APC governorship candidate.”

He announced the names of the candidates are their scores as follows; Jimi Odimayo: 490

Judith Omogoroye: 115

Lucky Aiyedatiwa: 48,569

Issac Kekemeke: 1,045

Olusoji Ehinlanwo: 492

Olugbenga Edema: 395

Jimoh Ibrahim: 9,456

Funmilayo Adekojo: 529

Mayowa Akinfolarin: 15,343

Wale Akinterinwa: 1,952

Olusola Oke: 14,915

Olumide Ohunyeye: 424

Morayo Lebi: 290

Iyantan: 348

Dayo Faduyile: 353
