Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said the future of Nigeria rests on the energy, innovation and determination of its young people. He said this during an inspiring evening at the All progressives Congress (APC) Youth House in Abuja at the weekend.
The event, titled “An Evening with the Senate President,” was hosted by the national youth leader of the ruling party, Hon. Dayo Israel, and attracted a diverse gathering of young leaders, professionals, and members of the APC Youth Wing.
Addressing the Young Progressive, Akpabio shared invaluable lessons drawn from over twenty years of public service, emphasising the crucial roles of preparation, mentorship, and consistency in effective leadership. He encouraged young attendees to focus on capacity building and maintaining their commitment to national development.
“I commend the APC Youth Wing for establishing a platform that fosters intergenerational dialogue and bolsters the values of progress and unity within our party,” Akpabio continued.
Hon. Dayo Israel extended his heartfelt appreciation to Senator Akpabio for accepting the invitation and for his unwavering commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment within the party. He praised the Senate President as a transformational leader whose exemplary journey through various levels of governance serves as a beacon of inspiration for emerging leaders.
“Senator Akpabio embodies visionary leadership,” Israel remarked. “His remarkable progression from Governor to Minister and now to Senate President illustrates resilience, excellence, and an enduring dedication to national service.
This engagement allowed young party members to benefit directly from his extensive experience. We are committed to bridging the gap between experience and innovation, ensuring that our youth play an active role in shaping policy and governance across Nigeria.”
The evening’s programme featured a fireside chat, an engaging Q&A session, and the presentation of a souvenir to the Senate President. It underscored the APC Youth Wing’s dedication to nurturing leadership development and promoting collaboration across generations, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
