Oil companies operating in the Akwa Ibom State have been assured of a conducive working environment for maximum productivity.
The commissioner for environment and mineral resources, Nsikak Ekong gave the assurance during a courtesy call by Seplat Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU) in his office in Uyo, the state capital.
He expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the firm for the successful transition from Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) to Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU).
The commissioner, who noted that the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aligns with the ARISE Agenda blueprint of the Governor Umo Eno administration, pledged collaboration for sustainable growth.
He assured that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources remains committed to strengthening partnerships and driving growth in the state’s oil and gas sector.
“We are committed to working closely with our partners in the oil and gas sector to ensure that we create an environment conducive for business to thrive,” he stressed.
Therefore, he advised oil companies operating in the state to ensure environmental sustainability, local content development, social responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
Responding, Mr Ogechukwu Udeagha, public affairs general manager (GM) at SEPNU, expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts to address the industry’s challenges.
He pledged the company’s support for the government’s initiatives and reiterated the firm’s commitment to community-based development.
In her remarks, the permanent secretary, Iquo Abia, Esq, expressed gratitude to SEPLAT for the visit and assured that “the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources is open to assisting in tackling challenges for the growth of the state.”
