Akwa Ibom first lady, Mrs Patience Umo Eno, has pledged to pay multiple birth mothersĀ N50,000 or N100,000 monthly as a relief facility.
She said N50,000 would be given to mothers of twin children and N100,000 for tripletsā mothers.
Speaking at an empowerment programme for mothers of multiple births in Ikot Ekpene yesterday, the governorās wife said the provision of monthly stipends to such families was to reduce their financial burden.
While congratulating mothers of multiple birth children, the first lady urged them to take good care of their babies who she described as blessings from God, pledging her continuous support for families facing such burden.
She said: āYou have seen the goodness and the kindness of God. It is worth celebrating and that is why you and I are here today. I love twins and that is why I put everything I can into this. I want you to appreciate this love further by loving these children.
āThese children will bring you good and they will do you good. They will bring you blessings. With these children, your fame will spread abroad. People will come to respect you because of these babies you are carrying,ā she said.
Responding, the care-taker chairman of Ikot Ekpene local government council, Mr. John Etim, welcomed her and poured encomiums on her for the consistency of her programme which has made the people of Ikot Ekpene and other areas as part of the beneficiaries.
He also described Governor Enoās administration as an impactful and people – driven government, assuring that Ikot Ekpene people would continue to support the administration to deliver the āArise Agendaā blueprint of the current administration.
