Benue State governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to empowering women through initiatives such as Alia Cares, which it said had helped 5,000 women in 23 local government areas.
The governor pointed out that the state’s 2026 budget included significant allocations for women’s empowerment programmes, focusing on financial inclusion, skills acquisition and social protection.
The technical adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, in a statement said Alia extended warm congratulations to the women of Benue State on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The statement added that Governor Alia celebrated the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in Benue State and across the globe, acknowledging their invaluable role in shaping society, economy, and culture.
Governor Alia recognised their tireless efforts, sacrifices, and dedication to family, community, and nation-building as truly inspiring.
“To all women in Benue State, we see you, we appreciate you, and we are committed to creating an enabling environment for you to thrive. Your contributions are invaluable, and we will continue to support and empower you,” Governor Alia said.
