Alma Mater Celebrates CDS, General Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, was honoured on Saturday during the 50th reunion of old students of Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary School, Sokoto.

The event, held at the school premises, brought together former students, teachers, and dignitaries to celebrate the institution’s legacy and achievements.

Governor of Sokoto State Ahmed Aliyu , emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the education sector and commended the organisers for sustaining the alumni reunion, noting its significance in fostering relationships and advancing the school’s development.

Deputy governor Idris Muhammad Gobir, who represented Governor Aliyu at the event, outlined key achievements of the administration in the education sector and affirmed to sustain the initiatives in ensuring Sokoto remains a center of quality education.

The special guest and former governor of Sokoto State, Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim, who expressed delight at the support being provided to the school by the Chief of Defence Staff, advised the state government to remain committed to the development of education, especially at a basic level.

In his remarks, General Musa expressed deep gratitude to his alma mater for shaping his formative years and acknowledged the contributions of past and present teachers.

General Christopher Musa while pledging his support for the school’s continued growth said, his decision to carry out total renovation of his former school was to show appreciation to the knowledge, discipline and good character instilled in him by the school.

“This school played a crucial role in shaping my early years, and I am honoured to be back here among my former classmates and teachers. The values and lessons I learnt here have guided me throughout my career,” he stated.

The reunion event climaxed with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding teachers and alumni who have contributed to the school’s progress.

General Musa received special recognition for his distinguished service to the nation and his commitment to giving back to his roots.
