The four-sport facility, constructed from scratch on the school premises located in Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, will be unveiled and handed over to the management on Friday, September 27, 2024.

In a press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the alumni group, Gbenga Abulude, the president of the ’94 alumni, Oladipo Olaosebikan, stated that the sporting facility includes twin courts for basketball, badminton, a lawn tennis court, and volleyball, along with areas for ground chess, Ludo, and hopscotch. This facility was constructed to help forge the students into well-rounded intellectuals.

Olaosebikan emphasised the importance of schools adopting a comprehensive approach to both mental and physical fitness in educating students, which inspired the executives to take action.

“To the glory of God, the ’94 alumni set of Nigerian Navy Secondary School is celebrating thirty years since over four hundred students graduated. To commemorate this, we decided to give back to the school that shaped our formative years by building a fitting sporting facility with four sports. This initiative was inspired by the saying, ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,’ and we therefore pooled our resources to make this happen,” said Olaosebikan.

The Project Committee Chairman, Dr. Toyin Abitoye, also noted that the sprawling sports centre, to be unveiled on Friday, September 27, 2024, will attract former teachers, school management, and dignitaries from the Nigerian Navy, led by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Mustapha Bala Hassan, who will officially unveil the edifice.
