AMAC Chairman-elect Vows To Prioritise People-focused Project

The chairman elect of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, has pledged to focus his second term on delivering projects with a direct and positive impact on the lives of residents, promising an expansion of infrastructure and social services across the council.

Maikalangu made the commitment while receiving different political support groups that paid him a congratulatory visit in Abuja, following his election victory on February 21, 2026.

Addressing his supporters, the chairman, who is beginning his second term in office, expressed profound gratitude for the renewed mandate and assured them of his administration’s commitment to building on the foundations laid during his first tenure.

“I want to sincerely thank my people for their support. By the grace of God, we will not disappoint you. In this second term, we will do more,” he said.

He outlined key areas of focus, including the expansion of road infrastructure, the improvement of schools, and the provision of more health centres across various communities.

While acknowledging the achievements of his first term, particularly in road construction and human capital development, Maikalangu emphasised the need for inclusive growth.

“Yes, we have constructed roads, but the resources cannot take care of every community at once. In this second term, we will extend development to more areas. Some communities will get roads, some will get schools, others will benefit from improved health centres,” he said.

The chairman stressed that his leadership style is rooted in accessibility and tangible results, tailored to the grassroots level.

“This is local government. My people don’t need big grammar. They need to see you around them. They need to see what you give back to them. That is what matters,” he said.

In a gesture of unity, Maikalangu extended an olive branch to his political opponents, calling for collaborative efforts to advance the council.

“I am open to everybody. Those who contested against me are free to come and work together with us. We must carry everyone along for the progress of AMAC,” he added.

He concluded by expressing appreciation to council staff, including LEA workers, and the leadership of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their continued support.
