Eminent peace advocate, Ambassador (Dr.) Samuel Olanrewaju Bill, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his swift and decisive response to the growing security challenges in Kwara South, describing the move as a reflection of the President’s compassion and responsiveness to the plight of citizens.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Amb. Bill expressed appreciation to the President for deploying military reinforcements to volatile parts of Kwara State following renewed attacks by armed bandits.

“I sincerely thank Mr. President for listening to the cries of our people and taking swift, meaningful action,” Amb. Bill said. “We raised our voices in appeal, and as a compassionate and listening father of the nation, President Tinubu responded promptly to our call.”

Following the President’s directive, a full military brigade with heavy equipment has reportedly been deployed across Kwara South and parts of Kwara North to dislodge bandits hiding in forested areas — a development that has drawn widespread commendation from residents and community leaders.

Amb. Bill, who had earlier issued a widely circulated appeal titled “Kwara Insecurity: Amb. Samuel Bill Tasks Government, Stakeholders on Peace”, said the Federal Government’s intervention demonstrated a proactive commitment to restoring peace and security.

He, however, urged continued vigilance and sustained collaboration among security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to consolidate the gains achieved so far.

“This commendable step must be backed with consistent operations, intelligence-sharing, and genuine community engagement,” he noted. “True peace is not achieved overnight; it is built through consistency, sincerity, and collective responsibility.”

The peace ambassador also applauded Senator (Arc.) Lola Ashiru and Hon. Tijani Kayode Ismail for their “bold and passionate advocacy” in the National Assembly, which he said helped draw renewed government attention to the insecurity ravaging parts of Kwara South.

Amb. Bill further lauded the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilante groups for their professionalism and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property. He also commended the Kwara State Government for its collaboration with federal authorities in addressing the crisis.

Reaffirming his commitment to peace advocacy, the diplomat pledged to continue working with stakeholders to promote security, unity, and sustainable development across Kwara South, Kwara State, and Nigeria as a whole.

“Once again, I thank Mr. President for his leadership and swift intervention,” he concluded. “Together, we can make our communities safe, united, and prosperous.”
