Recall that Adepoyigi was kidnapped by some armed men at his residence along Ifon-Owo Road in Ifon, the headquarters of the local government.

He was later killed by his abductors after collecting ransom from his family.

Parading the suspect and other 31 suspected criminals on Monday at the headquarters of the Corps in Akure, the state capital, the Corps Commandant of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the prime suspect had confessed to the crime.

According to Adeleye, “The prime suspects of the killing of a ward chairman in Ose had been arrested, he had confessed”.

He disclosed that the suspect had taken the operatives of the corps back into the forest where his men retrieved some of the items they took from the family of the victim.

The Amotekun boss further hinted that the suspect led them to the bush where the remains of the deceased were recovered and handed over to his family for burial.

Among the other suspects, Adeleye identified a 35-year-old Ali, Habeeb, 30 years; Bobade, 45; Shedrak, 25; Adamu, 25; Adelewa, 20; Suleiman, 40; Mohamed, 20; Suleiman Isiaka and Husseini, both 18 years old as being investigated for kidnapping.

According to him, the suspected kidnappers were arrested in Ute-Owo and Jugbere Forests as well as at Ipele in Owo local government area of the state.

Adeleye further stated the 32 suspects were arrested across 18 local government areas of Ondo State for infringement of existing state laws.

He added that the task force to restore sanity to the restive Aladada axis, in Akure North was still in force with Amotekun Rangers domiciled with officers and men from all security agencies.

“In the last two weeks in Ondo State, we have been able to ensure that there is no ransom paid for kidnapping, which remains the position of the good people and government of Ondo State,” Adeleye said.

The Amotekun commander added that one suspect was apprehended for violating the anti-grazing law and he will be prosecuted accordingly.

Giving a breakdown on the arrested suspects, Adeleye said two were arrested for armed robbery, one suspect for alleged rape and one 37-year-old Lawal who was arrested for forgery, false information, aiding and abetting robbery around the Powerline Axis.

“There is this suspected cultist, dreaded cultist, and expert in dismantling vehicle parts, Henry, arrested in Okitipupa. On the list of the suspects being paraded today, we equally have a David, who specialises in stealing cocoa seeds and motorcycles,” he said.

He further disclosed that a group of suspects with specialty in housebreaking were arrested while masquerading as those picking iron rods around the states, but informants to kidnappers and robbers.

He, however, assured the residents of the state to go about their normal businesses, urging them to report suspicious movements to the Amotekun Corps.
