Nollywood actor Gabriel Afolayan has been crowned the Best Supporting Actor at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his compelling performance in Clarence Peters’ film ‘Inside Life’.

Afolayan received the award at the 2025 ceremony, which is taking place at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday night.

His performance added depth to the film, earning him accolades and solidifying his status as one of Nollywood’s most versatile actors.

Gabriel is the younger brother of Kunle Afolayan, actor, producer, and director. The older Afolayan is credited for elevating the quality of Nollywood movies through larger budgets, shooting on 35mm, releasing in cinemas, and improving cliché Nollywood storylines.

The AMVCA, established in 2013 by MultiChoice Africa, is an annual event honouring excellence in African television and film. It serves as a platform to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in the industry and the creativity and talent that drive African storytelling.
