The clergy of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) are adequately equipped for ministerial work for the 21st century across the country even in the face of daunting physical and spiritual challenges among others.
Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of Aba, Most Rev’d (Dr) Isaac Nwaobia stated this to LEADERSHIP Friday after the opening ceremony of the 2023 Provincial Clergy Conference in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He said the maiden conference with the theme: “The Anglican minister of today” was aimed at reigniting the mission of the church which is to win souls for the kingdom of God, could not have come at a better time than now.
The bishop of Isiala Ngwa South Diocese also noted that it was meant for the participants to critique themselves, readjust where necessary as well as how to contribute to the development of the province.
“And of course, as humans, there should be a time in our crowded official schedule, as the conference has provided, when we have to move away elsewhere to refresh, relax, rest, and be reinvigorated,” he maintained.
He used the forum to appeal to the participants to be fully involved in the activities of the 5-day conference, enjoy the environment, pray, meet longtime acquaintances, “and be sure to take the lessons home.”
In his remarks during the opening ceremony, the Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Rt Rev’d Dr Geoffrey Obijuru Ibeabuchi said every baptised member of the church is a minister of the gospel.
