Rivers State Interprofessional Anti-Quackery Committee has sealed six illegal health facilities located in different parts of the state.

The committee, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by Dr. Hope Ovundah, said the operation, which was led by Dr. Vincent Wachukwu and Dr. Diamond Tamunokuro, led to the arrest of two persons.

The development comes barely three months after the Rivers State Ministry of Health sealed one health facility in the Borokiri axis of Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The statement said one of the facilities, Bristol Clinic and Maternity at Rumuodomaya, Port Harcourt, was shut down after investigators discovered that the clinic, a three-bedroom apartment converted into a six-bed hospital, was run by Mr. Kingsley Ugwu.

It said Ugwu, who posed as a doctor and carried out maternity and surgical services despite not being qualified, was arrested for quackery and impersonation.

The statement said the team closed Adoration Hospital and Maternity in Omagwa in Ikwerre local government area of the state, where a three-room shop was converted into a hospital.

It stated the facility was staffed by a one-month post-internship doctor and ten auxiliary trainees.
