Anyone With 2 Passes, 1 Credit Cannot Govern Anambra — APGA Chairman

National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has defended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s decision to question the academic qualifications of some of his rivals ahead of the Anambra State governorship election.

Ezeokenwa’s comments came amid a heated feud between Governor Soludo and Senator Uche Ekwunife, who is widely believed to be eyeing the State’s governorship seat.

LEADERSHIP reports that Ekwunife is the deputy governorship candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

Soludo had questioned the authenticity of Ekwunife’s academic records, prompting a fierce response from the female politician towards the Governor’s wife and her fidelity.

However, appearing on Channels Television’s ‘Morning Brief’ on Monday, Ezeokenwa said Soludo was not “majoring in the minor,” but instead raising fundamental issues about credibility and competence.

“The only thing the governor has done is to question the credibility and credential of people who say they are coming to run for office,” Ezeokenwa said.

“The credential of a person who wants to govern a state is an issue at the core of qualification. When you have a candidate parading a WAEC result that looks fake and questionable, then I don’t think you’d call that majoring in the minor.”

He went further to stress that Anambra, as the home state of renowned figures like literary icon Chinua Achebe and historian Kenneth Dike, deserves leaders with unquestionable qualifications.

“For someone who wants to govern a state like Anambra, the state of Chinua Achebe and Kenneth Dike, and has a WAEC with only two passes and one credit, there is something fundamentally wrong about that,” the APGA national chairman added.
