Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Hon Warman Ogoriba, has dismissed speculations by opposition parties that the ruling party in the state would face internal crisis after the conduct of its ward, local government and state congresses.
Ogoriba described such expectations as a “pipe dream”, insisting that the recently concluded congresses were the most peaceful and united in the history of the party in Bayelsa State.
He made the remarks when the state and local government coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), led by Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, paid him a courtesy visit.
The delegation included local government coordinators such as Kuro Matthias Nyenye (Nembe), Dr Godson Torukuru (Yenagoa), Uroh Kiani (Brass), Engr Biewari Orupeighe (Southern Ijaw), High Chief Okubokakpo Ombu (Sagbama), Chief Ebinyo Turner (Ogbia), Rt Hon Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma) and Hon Orubebe Ogeibiri (Ekeremor).
Ogoriba said the newly elected executives of the party would build on the trust and unity shown by party stakeholders during the congresses and work to maintain peace within the party.
He noted that the party had already adopted an open-door policy and was engaging stakeholders to ensure harmony within its ranks.
“We are operating an open-door policy and have started visiting stakeholders to ensure that the fold of the party is not open to acrimony. Those in the opposition dreaming that there would be an implosion within the APC before they can survive will be disappointed,” he said.
The APC chairman also assured members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and other campaign groups in the state of the party’s support as preparations begin for future elections.
He described political support groups as an important force that would help drive campaigns and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and other candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
