A former chairman of Kano Municipal Local Government Area, Faiz Alfindiki, has said the administration of President Bola Tinubu is currently executing some of the biggest infrastructure and development projects across Northern Nigeria, with over 52 per cent of major national projects located in the region.

Alfindiki made the assertion in a statement in Abuja where he urged citizens to focus on tangible development efforts rather than political rhetoric and propaganda.

According to him, the federal government is presently undertaking more than 1,400 kilometres of major road projects across the North, valued at over ₦7.21 trillion.

He described the projects as evidence that the region was receiving significant attention under the Tinubu administration.

Among the flagship projects highlighted by Alfindiki is the proposed Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, a 1,068-kilometre six-lane highway with an integrated rail line expected to strengthen economic ties between Northern and Southern Nigeria.

He also listed the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Road, which is being upgraded to reinforced concrete pavement, as well as rehabilitation works on the Kano–Maiduguri Road.

Other road projects mentioned include the dualisation of the Kano–Katsina Road, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road, the Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto Road, and the reconstruction of the Kano–Hadejia Road.

He further noted that the completion of the Cham–Numan Bridge would improve connectivity and economic activities in affected communities.

Speaking on transportation, Alfindiki referenced the ongoing Kano–Kaduna Rail Line project valued at $1.2 billion, which he said would ease pressure on highways and improve passenger and cargo movement.

He also highlighted the Kano–Maradi Rail Line and the proposed Kaduna Light Rail project aimed at modernising urban transportation.

In the energy sector, Alfindiki described the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline project as a landmark initiative capable of boosting industrialisation and improving gas supply to homes and businesses.

He added that the 1350MW Gwagwalada Independent Power Plant would significantly improve electricity generation, while solar energy projects in Kaduna State would promote cleaner energy solutions.

On healthcare and agriculture, he cited the upgrade of Misau General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, improvements at Reference Hospital Kaduna, and the rehabilitation of the Kumpada Irrigation Project.

Alfindiki cautioned Northern Nigerians against what he described as politically motivated narratives intended to mislead the public.

Without mentioning specific political developments, he criticised opposition figures, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, accusing them of engaging in criticism without providing practical alternatives.
