Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has been cleared by the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) screening committee to contest in the party’s governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The screening exercise, held at the Plateau State Governors Lodge, was part of the APC’s nationwide vetting process for aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for various elective positions.

Governor Kefas was among 17 serving governors screened by the committee for eligibility and verification of credentials before being officially declared qualified to participate in the primaries.

At the end of the exercise, the governors were invited to take a bow before the panel in a symbolic affirmation of their clearance.

Governor Kefas arrived at the screening venue accompanied by top government officials and party stakeholders from Taraba State, including the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Chief Barr. G.T. Kataps; the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Jalingo, the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Prof. Josiah Sabo Kente; and the APC Deputy National Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim.

The development is expected to strengthen preparations within Taraba’s APC ahead of the party primaries, as political activities gradually gather momentum towards the 2027 elections.
