The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that it will formally receive Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, into the party in January 2026.
The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this on Tuesday after a stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, Plateau State capital, describing the planned reception as a major political event for the state.
Yilwatda said the governor’s defection would further consolidate and strengthen the APC in Plateau State, adding that the party is open to all influential Nigerians willing to join its fold.
“We are ready to organise a colourful reception to demonstrate that Plateau State is firmly APC with his coming on board,” he said.
Yilwatda expressed confidence that the party would record sweeping victories in future elections in the State.
Former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, commended party members for their loyalty and resilience, urging them to remain steadfast while dismissing fears over recent political developments as unfounded.
Earlier, the APC Chairman in the state, Rufus Bature, assured that party members would continue to respect and abide by the decisions of the leadership.
Chairman of the APC Council of Elders in the state, Ambassador Danladi Wuyep, who also confirmed the move, expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of party leaders at the crucial meeting.
