Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that the ruling party intends to set up a National Institute of Progressive Studies as part of its new initiatives in 2024.

Ganduje disclosed this while speaking with State House Correspondents following the visit of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to President Bola Tinubu on Thursday in Lagos.

He stressed that the institute would act as a platform to instil democratic principles among party members and the general public.

“The establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies aims to educate our members, as well as the public, on democratic principles, internal democracy, the prevention of hate speech, and adherence to legal rules regarding elections and other processes.

“This institution will collaborate with the government to develop appropriate policies conducive to democracy,” he explained.

Additionally, Ganduje revealed plans for the party’s e-registration initiative, aimed at compiling a comprehensive database of both existing and new members for better party management.

The APC National Chairman expressed optimism about increased dividends of democracy in the forthcoming years under the new administration of Tinubu and his cabinet members.

“Nigerians should anticipate more from the federal government and the APC as an institution.

“We have already initiated steps to expand the party’s reach by gaining a presence in more states, increasing our members in the National Assembly and state assemblies, and we will continue to build on this,” he added.

Ganduje said that the NWC members visited the President’s Lagos residence to extend Christmas greetings and offer condolences on the loss of two of its members.

“We are here to share the joy of Christmas and the anticipation of the New Year 2024.

“We also express condolences to the President over the passing of two political stalwarts, the Governor of Ondo State and former Speaker of the National Assembly Ghali Na’Abba in Abuja. Additionally, we congratulate him on his achievements in managing the affairs of the country so far,” Ganduje stated. (NAN)
