APC Declares Mbata Winner Of Imo East Senatorial Ticket

Prince Alexander Mbata from Owerri North local government area has been declared winner of the Imo East senatorial ticket under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration was made by the chairman of the House of Representatives Primary Elections, Rear Admiral Kayode Williams (retd) on Monday at the Owerri zonal office after collation of the results.

The retired Admiral said Mbata polled 121,680 votes ahead of the other aspirants.

He said “I, Rear Admiral Kayode Williams (retd) the duly appointed chairman of the House of Representatives Primary Elections for Imo State and the returning officer for this election, I hereby formally declare Alexander Mbata having satisfied all the requirements of the party for this election, as well as relevant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and having scored the highest number of valid votes, 121,680 votes, is hereby declared winner of the Imo East senatorial district primary election 2026. Congratulations sir”, Williams said.

Earlier, Dr Chijioke Kaduru, Mbata’s closest rival announced his withdrawal from the race which enabled the businessman to win the ticket.
