A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has faulted the decision of the national leadership of the party to recuse itself from the petition brought before the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal by its state chapter and the governorship candidate, Tonye Cole.

Eze, in a statement issued yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital, also faulted the decision of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, to dismiss Cole’s petition for lack of merit.

He said it was the APC national leadership’s decision to withdraw from the petition, that to the judgement delivered by the tribunal in favour of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The APC chieftain alleged that the withdrawal was part of the deal between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

Eze stated that it was bad precedent for Tinubu to sell out his own party just to please a member of an opposition political party.
