Support groups  on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, to prioritise competence in choosing his chief of staff because that office is critical to the success of his administration.

The groups while also underscoring the need for the National Assembly leadership to emerge based on competence, added that the North West should be considered for the Senate president position.

The support groups who held a national joint press conference in Abuja over the weekend, said the position of the Chief of Staff to the President is very critical to the success of the incoming administration and must be exclusively reserved for the best possible hand.

Speaking for the groups, Engr Salisu Magaji who was part of the APC-PCC, said, “The chief of staff who will be responsible for the management of the day to day activities of the president and also responsible for the coordination of all the presidential aides has to be someone who is equally cerebral and up to the task.”

Speaking also for the group, Babajide Akin-Thomas said the Senate under the 10th National Assembly will be very critical to the success of the incoming administration and whoever will be elected to lead this arm of government must possess the required level experience, loyalty and commitment to service of the people.

“Statistically, going by the results of the election, it must also be noted that the North-West region deserves an important role in the next administration on the basis of merit. The North-West, out of the 6 geopolitical zones, gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest number of votes.”
