In a bid to promote harmony and security in Kano State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have signed a peace accord with the Kano State Police Force.

The meeting, held at the Bompai headquarters, marks the second peace accord ahead of the impending gubernatorial race judgement, following a similar agreement preceding the Appeal Court decision.

As the state awaits the Supreme Court’s decision on the gubernatorial race, these collaborative efforts emphasise a shared determination to uphold peace and security in Kano State.

Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Hussain Gumel, extended appreciation to both major political parties for their cooperation in ensuring stability.

As the New Year and Christmas festivities approach, CP Gumel stressed the necessity of continued dialogue with political and security stakeholders. The discussions also addressed the ongoing Kano State Governorship election case, currently before the Supreme Court. Both parties pledged to maintain peace and security, safeguarding the lives and property of the community.

Gumel affirmed the readiness of the police force and other security agencies to ensure overall security in Kano State. He issued a warning to groups attempting to disrupt peace, asserting that the army would not entertain such actions.
