The presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held across the three Senatorial districts of Ogun State on Saturday, witnessed a large turnout of card-carrying members of the party who all throne their respective wards to exercise their supports for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as candidate of the party.

The APC presidential primary, which held amidst cheers, enthusiasm and great optimism, also witnessed the trio of the incumbent state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the former governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the Senator representing Ogun West district at the National Assembly (NASS) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who is believed to have won the governorship ticket of the party for the forthcoming year 2027 election, all mobilising supporters for the Tinubu’s presidential ambition for a second term of office.

Reports monitored by LEADERSHIP ON SUNDAY across the three Senatorial districts indicated that the trio of Abiodun, Amosun and Adeola were among the early voters at their various wards, where they joined other party members in the queues to cast their ballot for President Tinubu in the exercise which witnessed the party adopting the Direct Primary method.

At the Wardsm 6, Itoko in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state where Amosun participated in the primary, the former governor expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the presidential primary election, stressing that the process was “free and fair”.

Amosun, who was ushered into the venue of the APC’s presidential primary election in Itoko amidst solidarity songs from the large crowd of voters around 10.am., cast his vote shortly after arrival.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, Amosun disclosed that his turn out was a show of respect and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“We are orderly and that is what it should and we are speaking with one voice. Everybody agreed that yes, we want our president to still continue his good. Today is for the president and we all must come out to come and show and demonstrate that yes, we are for the President, we are for APC, and that’s why I’m here”.

“All of us have all taken that position; all of us in Nigeria, not just this place, every ward in Nigeria is doing this and we have to come and participate and do our bit too. And that’s why I’m here. And I’m happy with our people. You see they are very excited, they are very eager to be part of what is going on”.

Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (HoR), Afolabi Afuape commended residents and party supporters in Ward 6 for their massive turnout, describing it as a strong indication of the president’s growing acceptance among the people.

Afuape appreciated the supporters for coming out in large numbers to participate in the exercise, which he described as a vote of confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.
