The senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Memga Udende, has extended olive branch to former Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam and other All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirants
who lost out in the recent concluded National Assembly primaries.
Udende got APC senatorial return ticket after the party’s appeal panel and National Working Committee (NWC) overturned the results of Benue North East Senatorial primaries, replacing former Governor Suswam.
In a statement issued by Senator Udende’s media aide, Jerry Iorngaem, on Thursday, Udende stated that the decisions of the APC appeal panels, and subsequent approval of National Working Committee (NWC) that restored the rightful candidates, reaffirmed confidence in the party’s commitment to justice and due process without resorting to self-help.
Udende called on APC supporters across Benue North East to unite and mobilise massively for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, “Senator Udende also extended olive branch to his bosom friend and brother, the former governor of Benue State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Gabriel Suswam and other contestants, urging them to join hands with him to secure victory for the APC”
The statement added, “The lawmaker expressed satisfaction by the firm resolution of APC members despite the activities of unscrupulous individuals who sought to undermine their will.”
Udende, who is chairman Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes, assured opponents of his readiness to work together in the overall interest of Benue North-East, Benue State and Nigeria.
