Senior figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have paid a visit to former Kano State governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, at the latter’s residence in Abuja, in what appeared to be a strategic move to woo him into the ruling party.
The delegation was led by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside other top party officials.
The visit comes shortly after Shekarau was reported to have held a meeting with Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, in Abuja, further fueling speculation over possible political realignments in Kano State ahead 2027 elections.
Speaking during the meeting, Shekarau acknowledged the APC’s overture but maintained that he would take time to consider his next move.
“I will evaluate the request presented by the Chairman alongside other requests I have received from others to determine which option favours the development of Kano State,” he said.
He also offered prayers for divine guidance in making his decision, noting that his words and actions would be guided in the best interest of the state and his followers.
As at the time of filing this report, no formal decision has been announced by Shekarau regarding the APC’s proposal.
