APC’s Alleged Flawed Primaries Will Cost Them Kogi East, Central — PDP Chieftain

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Michael Samuel Idoko, has declared that the alleged irregularities and internal crisis that trailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary elections in Kogi State may cost the ruling party victory in Kogi East and Kogi Central in the 2027 general elections.

Idoko, while reacting to the outcome of the APC primaries, mocked the ruling party over what he described as a “deepening culture of imposition, manipulation and injustice,” insisting that many aggrieved party members and supporters would eventually seek alternative political platforms.

According to him, the controversies surrounding the emergence of candidates in parts of the state have exposed cracks within the APC and weakened the confidence of loyal party members ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“The APC should stop deceiving itself. What happened during the primaries was far from a democratic process. When leaders suppress the will of the people and impose candidates, the consequences always come later at the polls,” he said.

He argued that the PDP is already gaining momentum across Kogi East and Kogi Central due to growing dissatisfaction among APC stakeholders and grassroots supporters.

“Many people within the APC are angry and disappointed. Some may not speak openly now, but the resentment is there. These flawed primaries will cost APC dearly in Kogi East and Kogi Central because the people are watching,” Idoko added.

The PDP stalwart further claimed that opposition parties in the state are becoming more united, while internal divisions continue to threaten the stability of the APC.

His remarks come amid complaints and allegations of manipulation raised by some APC aspirants and stakeholders following the party’s senatorial primary elections held across several states.

Despite the criticisms, APC leaders in Kogi have continued to defend the conduct of the primaries, insisting that the process was transparent and in line with the party’s guidelines.
