President of the Court of Appeal Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem has constituted the Election Petitions Tribunal (EPT) for the Bauchi State constituency re-run elections.
A press release issued by the tribunal secretary, Elsie Akpabio, said the development was in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act.
Akpabio said the tribunal opened its registry for official business at the state High Court of Justice.
“All registered political parties, the Nigerian Bar Association, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and the general public are advised by this announcement to take notice, please,” Akpabio said.
The Appeal Court had ordered for re-run election in 42 polling units in four State Assembly constituencies of the state that was held last Saturday where the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) swept all the four State House of Assembly seats contested in the re-run election at the Bauchi, Zungur/Galambi, Ningi, and Madara/Chinade electoral wards or registration areas.
