Nigerian singer-songwriter Esoterica has been selected as the latest Nigerian artist to join Apple Music’s Up Next programme, marking another major milestone in her rapidly growing music career.
Known for blending folk, soul, hip-hop, rock, pop and Afro House, Esoterica has carved out a unique space in Nigeria’s alternative music scene with deeply personal songs centred on faith, identity and self-discovery.
The singer began her musical journey in London in 2019 before relocating to Lagos a year later. Beyond her music, she co-founded the independent music collective Space, which has helped spotlight emerging alternative acts such as Braye and Rigo Kamp.
Since releasing her debut single, ‘Goldmine’, in 2023, Esoterica has continued to build momentum with songs including ‘Think I Might’, ‘Decisions’, ‘She Said’ and ‘Time of My Life’, which featured on Peruzzi’s Sabali album. She also released her latest single, ‘4 Days’, last month.
This summer, the rising star is set to unveil her six-track EP, ‘Avant-God’, alongside ‘Existing For Free’, a live music platform created to champion African women through intimate performances and community-driven events.
As part of Apple Music’s Up Next programme, Esoterica will be showcased on the platform’s global playlist, introducing her music to a wider international audience.
