President of the African Private Universities Association (APUA), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has toured the North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe, praising the institution’s rapid development and rising profile in Nigeria’s private tertiary education sector.

Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the Founder and President of the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) Group, was received at the NEU Senate Chamber by the Pro-Chancellor and Founder, Dr. Sani Jauro, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yusuph Amuda Yahaya.

Describing the visit as a great honour, Dr. Jauro said the engagement reflects the strengthening partnerships shaping the future of Nigerian higher education.

He commended Prof. Gwarzo for his remarkable contributions to educational development across Africa.

Prof. Gwarzo was later led on a tour of NEU’s facilities, including lecture theatres, laboratories, student hostels, the digital library, and the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Multimedia & Innovation Centre.

Speaking after the inspection, the APUA president lauded the university’s achievements within just three years of establishment, noting that its infrastructure, academic environment and student enrolment now above 2,000 place it among the fastest-growing private universities in the country.

“I am highly impressed by what I have seen today. North-Eastern University has achieved in three years what many institutions struggle to achieve in ten. The facilities, the organisation, the environment and the overall standards here are exceptionally commendable,” he said.

He congratulated the founder, management and staff, and assured that APUA would continue to support innovative private universities committed to excellence on the continent.

The visit ended with a group photograph and renewed commitments to enhance collaboration between NEU and the MAAUN Group.
